Nurses March - Washington, DC

Standing By You, Walking For Society. 

The United "Million" Nurses March took place Thursday, May 12, 2022, to help spread awareness to the hardships faced by nurses throughout the healthcare system. The event will assemble at 8:00 AM EST with the march beginning at 9:00 AM EST. The march will start at the White House (1600 Pennsylvania) and will end at Audi Field in Washington, DC.

Nurseify is not affiliated with any union organizations.

Why did Nurseify Attend?

As RBG once stated - "Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you." And as such, Nurseify chose this opportunity to not only connect with the nurses that are saving lives, but support them and what will benefit humanity as a whole.

Nurses deserve fair wages that are not capped. Nurses deserve a safe environment to care for their patients without worrying about violence from patients. Nurses deserve safe patient ratios in all clinical settings. Nurses also deserve an environment free from bias and racial discrimination. It will take effort and unity from all of us to see these changes and the march is an important step in that direction.
Nurseify was located at the Motto by Hilton Hotel, DC where we passed out gear and resources to help show nurses they are not in this alone.

Nurseify aims to ensure the racial equality and safeguard of nurses are always at the forefront of the conversation when it comes to improving our healthcare system. 

Nurseify believes in allowing nurses to set their hourly wages and not receive a cap on their salary.

Nurses have stood on the frontlines to battle the pandemic and help those around their community, so on May 12, Nurseify will stand alongside nurses and show our support to reform the healthcare system.

Reasons for the March

Nurseify will be in attendance at The United "Million" Nurses March to help bring awareness to persisting issues such as:

Patient to Nurse Ratio

Continued increase in acuity and the rise in staffing shortages contributes to a decrease in quality of patient care. 

Violence Against Nurses

Attention needs to address protecting nurses from verbal and physical abuse from patients and colleagues.

Racism Against Nurses

The support of our Black and Brown nurses specifically African- American nurses is needed. They have historically experienced bias and racism from patients and colleagues.

Equal Nursing Wages for All

As a profession the nursing industry has not financially aligned with the service it provides. 

What's at Stake with Pennsylvania House Bill No. 2293 (2021-2022)?

The Pennsylvania General Assembly is attempting to pass an amendment to the Health Care Facilities Act and place a cap on travel nursing rates across their state. 

The bill states, “A temporary health care services agency may not bill or receive payments from a health care facility at a rate higher than 150% of the sum of the average rate, plus a factor to incorporate payroll taxes, for the health care facility’s location as determined...”.

This bill may open the doors for a national cap to be created on one of the hardest working professions our world has seen. Nurseify will unite with nurses to ensure they are not oppressed by any entity/organization in any state. Together, 

The United Nurses March is not a protest and Nurseify does not encourage protest movements or striking. If individuals choose to protest in their own places of work or living that is their right. It is not a goal or focus of The United Nurses March or Nurseify.

Nurseify in no way supports or encourages any form of riot protesting on any subject whatsoever.
